- Cancer prevention : Its anti-cancer properties help decrease the risks of cancers, especially stomach and colon cancer.
- Tick bites :Scientists have compared the number of tick bites in people who take high doses of garlic compared to people who do not take garlic. High doses of dietary garlic, over about a five-month period, seem to reduce the number of tick bites.
- Toxicity :The sulphur compounds in garlic greatly help in detoxifying the blood of toxins, lead and other heavy metals.
- Metabolism :Garlic may be able to improve our metabolism of iron. When iron is stored up in our cells, one of the key passageways for it to be moved out of the cell and returned into circulation involves a protein called ferroportin. Ferroportin is protein that runs across the cell membrane, and it provides a bridge for iron to cross over and leave the cell. Garlic may be able to increase our body's production of ferroportin, and in this way, help keep iron in circulation as it is needed.
- Hardening of the arteries:As people age, their arteries tend to lose their ability to stretch and flex with age. Garlic seems to reduce this effect.Colon cancer, rectal cancer, and stomach cancer. Eating garlic seems to reduce the risk of developing these cancers. However, garlic supplements don’t seem to offer the same benefit.
- Anti-coagulant :The natural and effective blood-thinning method, safer than taking aspirin which can cause stomach bleeding. This means that it is protective against thrombosis—blockages of blood flow by clots.
- Wind : Small amounts of garlic taken can help relieve gas in the stomach.
- Fungal infections :Raw garlic juice taken internally is effective in treating fungal infections like athlete’s foot or ear infections. Also apply the juice directly to the affected area to soothe the itch.
- Hypertension : The cleansing of the arterial deposits helps to normalize blood pressure.
- Peptic ulcer: Also effective against the bacterial stomach parasite which causes peptic ulcers.
- Common cold : If you feel a cold coming on, take a clove or two of garlic to prevent it. If you have got a cold, take garlic too. It acts as a medication for the cold, helps relieve congestion and aids in speedy recovery.
- Encephalitis : Garlic taken in high doses (under doctor’s observation) have been known to cure encephalitis, but please read the cautionary note below.
- Cholesterol :Garlic juice significantly reduces the oxidation of the blood cholesterol and the build-up of plaque in arteries, decreasing the risks of heart diseases.
- Diabetes :Take one clove of garlic daily to lower blood sugar level.
